PIC32 Starter Kit 2 Programming

HI there iam haveing trouble programming my board. I have tried a number of tools in MpLabX but no look.

My question is it it possible to program the bootloader through the existing usb debug, or by using an FTDI chip and the ICSP. If so how :)

There is not enough dumbed down information for us newbies (who by the way is why we use arduino because its easy!!!)
