Hi, there is an interesting project at
RetroBSD is a port of 2.11BSD Unix intended for embedded systems with fixed memory mapping. The current target is Microchip PIC32 microcontroller with 128 kbytes of RAM and 512 kbytes of Flash. The MAx32 board is listed as the planned hw port too.

I thought the port to Max32 is ready, but I haven't really tried so I may be mistaken.
