Wi-Fire issues with WPA-2 passphrase connection on new router (used to work)

I recently started up a new project requiring network connectivity, and was having issues. As a sanity check I tried the deWebIOServer example, which I was able to get working in the past. I am using WPA-2 passphrase security, and after scanning for networks and calculating the PSK, the program does not progress any further. If I turn off security it can connect.

I have upgraded my router (to a ubiquity amplifi mesh router system) since the last time I had this up and running. Is there perhaps some esoteric router setting that causes issues with the MRF24WG0MA WiFi module? If so haven't had issues with any other devices.

Interestingly I've noticed now that I can connect pretty reliably if I happen to be touching the wifi module when it is initially connecting. Once its connected it tends to stay connected. Hardware issue? Don't know what it would be though. I reflowed all the solder joints, which didn't seem to make any difference.
