I thank all of you for taking the time to give me additional useful information. I have realized that some of you swear by the chipKit while some of you are on the "well, lets wait and see" platfomr. My final conclusion is that eventually the line will be a good one once the bugs are out of it. When? Time will show. By the way, one of you made the statement that the chipKit is cheaper than Arduino. Wrong. Prices on the Arduino UNO are down to $24 and on the Mega down to $40 ($35 in quantity).

I have purchased a UNO32 already and have run several Arduino code programs without any problem at all.

So, I am withholding my enthusiasm for now. Knowing the quality Digilent places on all their products, I am confident that the bugs will be gone soon.

I am in the UK and my usual supplier for electronics modules/components sells the Chipkit cheaper than the Arduino:

Arduino UNO £19.50 http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?SKU=1848687

ChipKIT UNO32 £17.99 http://uk.farnell.com/digilent/chipkit-uno32/chipkit-uno32-development-board/dp/1893211

The Mega/MAX32 price difference is a similar ratio.

Other suppliers in the UK won't ship free next day delivery like Farnell as far as I know.

Slightly cheaper in Australia, also.

Genuine Mega2560 is around $70. Max32 is $60.
