libraries with - or . in directory name

I've tried two different libraries with either a '-' or a '.' in the directory name and get the following error when I launch mpide:

The library "insert-name.here" cannont be used. Library names must contain only basic letters and numbers. (ASCII only and no spaces, and it cannot start with a number)

If anyone knows of a better place to report this bug, please point me to it.
