Dear All,

I seem to have failed at the first hurdle. I have an Chipkit Uno32 and the I/O shield. I have installed the FTDI and MPIDE onto my Mac but cant seem to get the serial port to install.

For some reason /dev/cu.usbserial-A5400Hpt does not exist when I plug in the Uno32 and I cant seem to find any reasons why not. I am running OS X 10.8.5, but i cant see a problem.. It doesn't seem to install.

The red power LD3 is on and the LD4 is flashing.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Mark

I am no expert on the Mac, but the underlying OS, BSD, I know.

You could try opening a terminal, and typing "dmesg". That should give you a whole swathe of log messages. If you do it just after plugging in your Uno32 the last lines should be related to it, and could give you some more clues as to what is going on.

Hi,

I did figure this out.. It was the cable I was using had a USB to serial converter within it so it was fine for charging but not for using as a USB cable.
