The source for the USB bootloader is now on github.
This bootloader will will work with any PIC32 that has a built in USB port. I have tested it fully on several of the Microchip Starter kits such as the PIC32-USB-Starter Kit.
You will need MPLAB-X to compile and program the bootloader. MPLAB-8 can probably be used as well but I do not have the project set up for it.
Mplab-X is cross platform based on NetBeans. It is free and is available from http://www.microchip.com/mplabx
Special thanks to Rich T for the hard work on the USB bootloader
