Remote control with Telegram and RPi + uC32 + IOShied

Post by Tayeb » Thu Apr 23, 2015 1:17 pm

I have just completed a project that uses Telegram to control remotely a chipKIT uC32 board through Raspberry Pi with Telegram instant messaging.

Telegram is a very versatile instant messaging software that can be used with the same phone number on different devices simultaneously.

I will share here a link with a tutorial on how the project is done and share code.

The image below shows Telegram enquiring status from TCN75A temperature sensor on IOShield connected over chipKIT uC32.

A Lua script for Telegram running in Raspberry Pi is monitoring keywords such as "check". On receiving "check" the script runs a Python program that reads the temperature sketch in uC32. Once temperature with keyword "status" Python program closes down, with only Lua script running continuously waiting for keywords. Effectively one can start a whole a remote control project that can do lots of things and the advantage is that Telegram can run in different devices with the same phone number. Note Alert is activated with a switch on IOShield.
